Title: Combi boiler
Post by mike4369 on Aug 10th, 2013, 10:14am

Worcester Greenstar 37CDi combi - the pump is running constantly for hours on end despite the system being on Auto and the temperatures above the set programme, also the guage shows 59 degrees which seems to indicate the boiler is heating the water but none of the rads is warm. Is this normal?
I have just uprated a rad and refilled the system and it has had its annual service.

Not heard this one before, perhaps a call to WB.

Must be a PCB fault since the manual states that the anti seize cycle should only last a few seconds whereas mine lasts for hours. Anywhere I can get a schematic so I can see what's involved?

Has the problem just started and have you checked the controls, frost stat etc for example.

Also have you tried re-setting the boiler.

Only really noticed it recently since the rad change. I have switched the boiler off a couple of times (will that reset it?) but pump comes on almost at once. Tried the reset button same result.

It seems that the Smart linked wireless receiver was to blame. I had to shut off the mains to change a socket and when I restored power the receiver needed to be rese. The boiler is operating normally - pump off till heat needed.

I proved it was the receiver by shutting off the power, the "fault" returned, after resetting the receiver all returned to normal.

What is the make/model of the stat/receiver please.

The stat and receiver are Drayton, the stat is a Digistat+3RF and the receiver was known as Drayton Digistat SCR Receiver re-badged by British gas as a WR1, so will be fitted to many BG systems.
