Title: eaves protectors on a close board roof
Post by madandy64 on Aug 10th, 2013, 7:04pm

Hi all,
I want to replace the gutter boards/soffits and would like to fit eaves protection to stop the filthy marks running down the gutter board.
but I have a close board roof with no felt and would like to know if the eaves protectors can still be fitted.

many thanks in advance

they are generally to be used in conjunction with under tile felt/to repair damaged end felt, but can still be employed if updating the facia and soffits, but unless your tiles are in good order (no missing, cracked or other wise damaged ,) it could give you problems...

staining down the facia, usually occurs when rain is either driven back from the tile ends, by the wind, or if the over hang to the tiles over the guttering is not adequate ...

hope this helps

Many thanks for the reply.
I've gone over the hole roof and apart from a little mortar repair to 1 valley all the roof tiles/hips/ridges etc are in good order. think i'll give it a go with the eaves protection.
