Title: Wall opening Post by need to know on Mar 8th, 2014, 7:47pm I am opening a town home dividing wall, block, to connect two units. Not sure to how to support wall while making opening. Should block come out then install lintel? |
Title: Re: Wall opening Post by Lectrician on Mar 9th, 2014, 11:16am How wide is the opening? Google for Acrow Prop Needles. |
Title: Re: Wall opening Post by TIMBA-WOLF on Mar 9th, 2014, 10:51pm "STRONG BOYS" are what you need, see link (and any hire company will rent them and the acro props...) http://www.strongboy.co.uk/index.php?, cut the required slots for the strong boys above where the lintol/s will go, install strong boys and props, then remove the area of brick/block work where the lintol/s would go, and install the lintol/s.. and allow to set, then you can remove the SB's and the remaining brick/block work to give you the opening.. hope this helps |
Title: Re: Wall opening Post by CWatters on Mar 10th, 2014, 11:24pm Plan ahead.. In a few cases you need to put the lintel on the floor next to the wall before putting in the props in place because they get in the way. |
