I have a Hoover washer dryer that seem to wear out just one of the motor brushes, the other is original (2 years old). Can anyone shed some light on the reason for the problem? the motor is a C E SET type

Can't think of a reason why one would wear out a lot faster unless there was some damage to that brush holder? Is this the second time that brush has worn out faster? If it's the first time perhaps it's a faulty brush?

Thanks for the reply. It is the second time the brush has been replaced. The first time I put it down to overloading the drum as our usage went up considerably, but the second time it was just over a normal year's usage.
There may be a design fault with that make of motor since the brushes are off set and don't sit at 90 degrees to the rotor. I used Hoover brands both times, and the brush that is ok still has 90% of its length left.

Many motors have offset brushes. I believe it helps the high speed efficiency (at the expense of the efficiency when running in reverse)?
