Hi Everyone,

I've just moved into a new house and trying to understand the wiring.

I want to attached a new light (with a 3 way box of live, earth, neutral). I want to attach it to an old style fitting that has lots of extra wires and I don't understand what wires should go where.

A picture of the old wiring it attached. Can anyone help?

All the reds are constant live and need to be put in separate terminal block on their own.

The two blacks with blue flex are the neutral, and single black (should have some red ident sleeve or tape on it) with the brown flex is the switched live for your light fitting. Earths are obvious.

Google loop in lighting, this is a very typical pendent in a standard house.
