Title: Damp on my new build brick work Post by embassy13 on Apr 6th, 2015, 9:00pm I am about to go through with the completion on my new build house on Friday. I have noted that the bottom half foot / foot around the house is somewhat damp compared to the rest of the house and adjoined neighbour (they moved in several weeks back). There is also moss / green algae in patches. Is this normal in new build housing or a sign of a more serious issue? Appreciate it may be difficult to tell. Is there anything I can do to check if it is a more serious issue before Friday? Thanks in advance |
Title: Re: Damp on my new build brick work Post by thescruff on Apr 6th, 2015, 10:39pm What does the builder have to say about it and what do they intend to do, any BS I'd walk. May be a blocked cavity, is there any sign inside the building ? |
Title: Re: Damp on my new build brick work Post by embassy13 on Apr 7th, 2015, 12:52am Hey. Thanks for posting. I haven't spoken to them yet. Closed for Easter. Going to get onto them first thing Wednesday. I was in the other week and didn't notice any sign of anything. Is it a serious / complex issue to correct if it is a blocked cavity? Thanks again |
Title: Re: Damp on my new build brick work Post by thescruff on Apr 7th, 2015, 9:43am You need to see it to know the answer to that unfortunately and you should take several good photos and date them. The green Algae would certainly need treating. Post back Wednesday after you have spoken to the builders. |
