Title: Yellow commando plug in the home? Post by DonBrachino on Jul 14th, 2015, 10:50am I have been given a drill with a yellow commando plug (110v 50Hz) can I use it in my home? Is there an adapter or something like that? Will I also need a transformer? or can I just re wire it with a standard plug? I have attached an image album of the drill info[album]DonBrachino&1436867349[/album] |

Post by thescruff on Jul 14th, 2015, 2:18pm Hi, That is a 110v drill so you'll need a transformer to 110v from 240v in this country http://www.screwfix.com/p/portable-transformer-with-2-output-sockets-3kva/84144 A few on ebay mayby worth looking at if they are close to you for collection |

Title: Re: Yellow commando plug in the home? Post by thescruff on Jul 14th, 2015, 5:37pm They are intended more for industrial use, and were a very good drill, getting on a bit now though, maybe 25-30 years. And they trannies go about 25 or so KG ;D |

Title: Re: Yellow commando plug in the home? Post by Lectrician on Jul 15th, 2015, 8:40pm Transformer. Transforms 240 to 110v. Big ones (high wattage) can be heavy, but a smaller 1kva would do for you. 110v is used on construction sites, it's centre tapped to earth, so you would only receive a 55v shock if you came in contact with a live part. |

Good luck with that. I don't think there's too much demand for drills that need a chuck key. In fact I can't remember the last time I needed a chuck key, for anything. 15 years, at least. |
