I have seen these small garden security flood lights around 500 watt filament tube.
I would need 3 of these to secure my property.
On the market I believe there is a available CREE security lamps . The external size of these Cree lights/lamps are about the same as the 500watt filament type lamps,
but the light LED /Cree is appx 1inch square.
I have neve seen these Cree lamps in use are they suitable for household external security lighting, anything I sould know about them enegy saving mains voltage ???

Look at 30 and 50watt Ansell flood lights. Compareable to a 300 and 500watt halogen.

Now is the light from these lamps sufficient enough
for CCTV camera use at night with the villan some 60 foot
from my premises?

Too bright is actually bad for cameras as it creates shadows to hide in that the cameras will not pick up.

What CCTV cameras have you got? Some have built in IR lamps and don't need visible light at night.

The main problem I have with CCTV is spiders and their cobwebs. These cause the IR to be reflected back into the camera causing it to stop down making the garden darker.

You would be surprised how effective the Ansell flood lights are. They are 50watt (equiv 500), which is more than others, but they give an output that truly matches a 500watt flood, unlike the others on the market.

I agree with CW - Decent cameras will have long range IR night vision, but do go into black and white mode for this, and cobwebs not noticeable across the screen during the day show up and blind the camera an night. Apparently WD40 or similar keeps them away.

i've got some claimed 200w equivalent led flood lights outside. that's probably a little on the optimistic side, but not too much. they have little to no effect on the picture on the cctv, the ir light built into the cameras projects much further, but definitely seems to attract spiders
