Induction Cooktop - 43amps - really?
Sep 29th, 2015, 11:22am

The mrs has purchased a new induction cooktop, still waiting for it to be delivered. Was reading the install manual to see what i was in for.

Manual say's it wants up to 9800W or 43amps - it's a biggie - 900mm wide, but really up to 43amps?

Was going to run 6mm cable to it but it will be partially covered by insulation so not sure I can get away with this. (about 30m from the fusebox).

I guess it would double up the cable if needed by it does seem excessive.

Also I'm hard pushed to find a suitable isolation switch rated for 43A+ that would be acceptable in a kitchen - they all look industrial.

Any suggestions?

Dave

Apply some diversity.
Will you ever use all rings at the same time? and all flat out?
Im not much of a cook but 32A is alot of heat to cook with in a domestic situation i would have said that would be ample.
Doubling up the cable is not something i would advise doing.

Check in the instructions what the manuf ask for the final connection size and cable type.
