For the avoidance of any doubt I have implemented a new web page on my web site concerning Part P:

Hello HM

Good page that explains everything nicely - I'm doing something similar to go on my site - but if I can just ask one thing; where did you get the info about all electrical work in kitchen and bathrooms needing to be certified?

I've ploughed through the PDF of the Part P proposal from the ODPM website (yup, all 87 pages) and couldn't see a reference to specific rooms within dwellings; have I missed it?

Reason I ask is because I've spent most of this year designing and installing bathrooms (with a few kitchens to sort out in the New Year) and although the electrical work is minor (new lights and extractor mostly) it would be a bit of a bugger if I need to get a sparks in to do the work and certify - certainly would add to the overall cost of the job.

So, any more info would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Pete (another SFD refugee...)

They're now regarded as "Special Locations" under the Parp P scam.

That's the truth.

If you do electrical work in kitchens, bathrooms or gardens then it has to receive a compliance certificate under part P. No exceptions.

Thanks guys.

All a bit of a disappointment this Part P business isn't it? Is there a more recent version of the Part P doc available anywhere? The one I have definitely makes no mention of kitchens, bathrooms or special locations...

Gotta love/hate this government and their out-of-date PDF's...

Cheers

Yes, it was made available a few months ago. Get it here:
