havent got a clue!!!!!!!!

another service!!!! does it line up with where your gas or water enters the house!!!!!!!!!!

No!  This is at the back of the house, Gas comes in at the front and water too.  The water supply is relatively new though so I suppose it could be an old water supply (did they use to use metal pipes for that?)

I will see if I can have a look at one of the neighbours manholes and see if they have one too.

i'd have a stab at water pipe..  last house i did the pipe ran along the back of the houses in line with the sewer, looked remarkably similar to that.   (lazy gets could have gone around the man hole though)

turn a mains tap on to see if you can hear any noise in the pipe
but leave the plug in or you might not hear much for the water draining away Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
