I've just been watching BBC's Click Online program...

They had a news item about a programmer in Japan who created a character for an online game. Nothing new in that except he programmed his virtual character to mug other virtual characters and steal their virtual goods. The programmer then sold the stolen virtual goods in the real world for real money!
