Creating an En-suite toilet/shower room
Sep 6th, 2005, 10:18pm

I would love to install an en-suite shower and toilet in my main bedroom.  My existing bathroom is ground floor to the front of the house, my bedroom is upstairs to the rear of the house.   Would this make it a huge job to undertake???  A friend mentioned that I would need a Saniflow system but apart from the telly ads I really don't know anything about these.

Any tips greatly appreciated  Grin Grin Grin

well your two real options are a macerator system(saniflo) or a new drainpipe down the back wall. The saniflo would be by far the easiest option, however search this forum for our previous comments on macerators before diving in.

If there was a drain at the back of your property the new soil stack would be the better and easier option, although these works are probably going to need to be passed by your local bco.

The house I'm extending at the moment has a macerator in their front wc downstairs as all the drainage is to the rear of the property and goes from one house to the next across the back gardens.

Part of the project is to remove this cloakroom and reposition the wc in the rear of the house.

The customer says never again will he have a macerator because of the noise.

If you've got no other option then you have to accept a macerator but it's very much a last resort imho.
