decorative pipe covers
Dec 3rd, 2005, 9:56pm

Anyone know where I can get some wrap around covers from (chrome ideally). I need to cover over a gas pipe that runs through a kitchen worktop and looks a bit ugly so thought I’d cover it up. The pipe is about 33mm wide

Ok chopdrop seen you're other posts, now for some questions that require answers.

The pipes look like 1" steel, is one the incoming mains to the meter and the other the supply to the flat.

where do the pipes enter or exit the flat.

Is this a tenented flat or owner occupied, if the first is there a safety certificate.

Looking at the pic several regs have been broken, cables have to be a set distance from the gas, not zip tied to it  Grin

Yes as I said you can box it in if the box is ventilated.

owner occupied. The pipes are the incoming and and supply as you stated. It comes into the flat about 2 feet above what you can see in the photo and off to the left which is the external wall.

I'll let the customer know about the cables. What is the distance they need to be from the pipe?

at least 150mm away from electrical meters and associated excess current controls or fuse boxes.

at least 25mm away from electrical supply and distribution cables or other metallic services.

where spacing requirements are impractical the pipe should be wrapped with pvc or an insulating material fitted  between  pipes.

Plastic conduit or surface trucking would be ok.

The pipes must be sleeved where they pass through the walls and sealed on the boxed in side.

air vents to atmosphere must be fitted top and bottom, the cupboard would be fine for the bottom if you drill a few holes and then vent the space (cupboard)

For a 1" pipe you would use 2 pieces of coversnap overlapping each other!!!
