Why Screed (Read 3873 times)

mjc GDPR opt-out	Why Screed Dec 6^th, 2005, 10:23am Sorry if the answer to this is obvious! I am about to lay a new concrete floor to the kitchen of the house I am renovating and I was wondering why it is necessary to lay a sand/cement screed on top of the concrete base. I am going to tile the floor so I was wondering if it was possible to do this directly on top of the concrete. Cheers Martin

As far as services go, electrics will come down from above, water along the wall behind the kitchen units and the radiator will be on a wall which backs onto a room with timber floor so the flow/return pipes can go straight through the wall to the radiator. graham555 GDPR opt-out Total Thanks: 58 For This Post: 0	Re: Why Screed Reply #5 - Dec 6^th, 2005, 9:29pm The reason to screed is that most of the time when new construction it is hard to get a decent finish to the concrete ie weather, animals and the odd idiot walking on the freshly poured concrete, and it is far easier to adjust with a topping if levels are not perfect.
