I`ve got a sheet of stainless to fix under the extractor as a splashback,do you reckon it would be best to fix it on top of the tiles (gripfill or similar) or remove the area of tiles,fix the stainless to some 6mm ply or mdf with contact adhesive and then atach this to the wall,the 6mm board will bring the surface flush with the surrounding tiles.The size is 600x1000. How would you do this?

When ever i make a splashback to fit between tiles i fold the top edge at 90deg about 5mm inside, then fix to some 3/16 ply.
But having that fold hides any backer that you fit.

hiy first post so go easy my mate stuck hes on with liquid nails and after a day once it set he had an inward dint in the splashback where hed stuck it, so it shrinks and pulls it in.

Hi there TWN-1 , and welcome to this forum!!, i must admit, i was over somewhere yesterday, where they had got the SAME problem, stuck a piece of etched stainless as a splashback to a hob just before xmas, taped it to wall after using Pink Grip, and when they came back on Wednesday, it had pulled in at the points where the Pinkgrip was!!! used to look real classy, now looks as the owner puts it! "a PIGGIN MESS" so it has got to be replaced at the fitters expense!!!

No probs like that with mine ,it`s a pretty solid sheet.Got it from a friends neighbour who owns a business making commercial kitchens .Came plasma cut to the exact size for the grand sum of £30.My sister has a huge range style cooker with splashback in stainless and this flexes when you touch it,.
