Painting front of house
Feb 3rd, 2007, 5:29pm

Hi all

I have a small 2 bed terraced house which we rent out. Its painted a really horrible reddy colour and i was looking to re paint the front in the spring when the spring comes. Its terraced and quite small. Its frontage is approx 4m and is typicall two story terrace.

My question is how much would i expect to pay a pro to paint just the front???

If i do it myself do i just buy exteior paint in the clour i want  or does it need a base coat then a coat of the colour i want.

Is there anthying i would need to do to prepre the walls before painting???

If i do it myself i expect to do it over weekend (2 days) is this enough??? Is there naything i can do to ensure i get a nice plumb line with the house next door (which is painted the same red colour?)

THanks

Is it just the walls that need painting?
Are you going to paint the gutters, fascia board, soffit board, sashes, downpipes, doors, frames, plinth, inspection covers etc?
Is it in good condition?
What sort of quality finish are you after?
Is it accessible by ladder, ie. flower beds right in the middle where the ladder needs to go?
Are the walls  smooth rendered, or pebbledashed?
Does it have a gable with bargeboards?

I am firmly of the opinion that a job cannot be priced without an on site survey. There are too many factors to take into consideration.
