Cisten fed electric shower

Dear Professionals,
I have a job to replace an existing eletric shower (Dolphin 1000) which is cistern fed.
Having checked compatability with regards to shower type/wiring/mcb I am going to install a Triton 9.5kw cistern fed unit.
My problem comes in the form of a pump which is installed on the current installation just after the outlet of the cistern.
So to my question.
Do I leave this pump in when installing the new unit or take it out?
Triton say that there unit needs a minimum of 80mm drop from cistern to shower inlet to operate.
Many thanks

Can I assume that the pump may of been added to (obviously) boost water supply to the shower unit which could of been a mains pressure unit.
Is this common practice in electric shower installs if the mains pressure is not sufficient?
