Replacing marble floor tiles

Does anybody have experience of removing marble floor tiles from a concrete floor? Seems like a big job, and perhaps the floor underneath will get damaged, but I have no such experience. Would it be worth even trying? The floor is sound - could it be re-tiled over the existing tiles? Any advice/experience gratefuly received ...
