Yes, but assuming you also want to continue with sky downstairs, you will need to replace the LNB on the dish for a DUAL LNB, or even a QUAD (to leave two spare outputs).

The standard oval sky dish is fine.

It will need to be a quad LNB if you want Sky+ or Freesat+

Many people are waiting for the new Humax Freesat HD+ box. Officially available since november but like hens teeth at the moment.

In case it matters.. all Freesat channels can be recieved free on a Sky box (although some need an old sky card). I only found that out recently. The main problem is that they are interleaved with the sky channels in the epg so it's a pain remembering which are free. Try setting up a favorites list with just the free/freesat channels.

On checking various sites ,understand replacing existing LNB may be problematic as existing LNB has spigot fixing. and  some quad LNB`s don`t easily fit without adjustment.
Any comments or help greatfully received.

If you are going to get the ladders out, and your dish is a little on the old side, it is not going to cost you hugely to replace the one you have got.

To replace sky dish. Is this a DIY job. Do I need special eqipment to assist  instalation to receive strong signal. On reading some sites,I`m not too sure.
Thanks for help so far.

I fitted my own using a compass and the help of www.satcure.co.uk.  They have a forum, see the link at the top of this Alarm/Data board.

You can use the Sky signal meter integrated into the on screen guide to help you, (signal test).  Not ideal, as it is delayed, but certainly workable.
