Electic Trips when heating is switched on?

Hi
My electic has just tripped, I have isolated it to my heating switch in the kitchen. Do you know if its the socket in the kitchen ( the thing is so tight I can't see) or the main box? Any ideas?
Thanks L

Sounds like an issue with the central heating?
Could be the boiler, the pump, and zone valves or the associated wiring.
Look for leaking or dripping pipes.......look for white or green gunge on pipes......these are caused by leaks.

What sort of heating is it? If it's an electric water heater then get someone in to look at it. Not unusual for elements to fail and trip the circuit out.

Whats tripping? A possible RCD protecting the circuit or the MCB itself?
Could be something gone wrong within the point of isolation (switched spur), thats where i would be looking first perhaps. Would be good to know if its a boiler, a downflow heater or electric rad etc...

You say you traced it to the heating switch well yes as said before it possibly is that. The problem being we cant see it and we are not there, best to get a qualified sparky out.
Many things could trip the RCD when you switch the isolation switch on. Someone might of taken a spur from this switch or off the heating circuit which could cause the problem. Sounds like problem with heating but to be on safe side get a qualified engineer out.
