Stain/preserver for sawn timber
Mar 24th, 2009, 6:55pm

I'm looking for recommendations for makes of stain/preservative for use on external sawn timber cladding. I'm thinking something akin to  barn black or creosote than Sadolins.  Ideally in a range of brown colours as the planners want to approve samples.

I would think you are better off with a spirit based stain such as;

rather than a water based finish which will sit on the surface and look less natural.

Yes thanks thats exactly the sort of thing. Want it to penetrate rather than coat the surface.
