RCB tripping
May 23rd, 2009, 9:01am

My electric kettle has started tripping the RCB device. It does this even when the kettle switch is off (obviously the wall socket switch is on). I've tried it on other socket circuits with the same result. Other power devices - immersion heaters, electric fires - work OK.

Is there anything I can do to overcome this problem. Perhaps put something in series?

Buy a new kettle, it is obviously faulty.

If it has a removable power cord you could try another one with same fuze rating but otherwise it's what Zambezi said..time to buy a new one.

Yes, don't  be a tight dangerous git, smash it with a sledge &  bin it.

Actually, that may have been a bit harsh, sorry, bring it round here & for a flat fee of £35 I'll guarantee that it is either fixed or replaced with a 'similar' kettle. Please give me at least 30 min notice so I can pop down to Currys.
