I have a Worcester-Bosch condensing boiler. I woule like to put a carport over the area where the flue comes out of my house. I have looked in the manufacturer installation brochure and it gives the minimum distances for the flue's proximity to adjacent structures. It then has a small box on the diagram that says: "it is not recomended for the flue to be positioned under car ports".
The manual doesn't elaborate on the reasons.
If I built my carport as planned, the flue would be 0.5m from the edge of the carport and 0.5m below the carport roof.
I am conscious that the heat from the exiting steam may discolour the acrylic sheeting but I doubt that this would happen.
Can anyone explain:
1. why might the manufacturers suggest this?
2. Is it a legal /mandatory requirement that I must not build my carport over this flue or is it just (as it says) a "recommendation".
3. Might it affect the performance of the boiler?
