Fitting Multifuel fires

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I was unsure whether to put it in the buiding or the plubing section. However, when fitting a multifuel fire is the register plate sealed into the chimney by the use of fire cement or just simply screwed to the inner wall?

I'm not a Hetas approved fitter (just a self builder)...
I believe it should Sealed. For one thing any oil/tar running down the chimney would leak around the register plate and make a right mess. Then there is the possibility of CO leaking and killing you.

Forgot to add that many stove manufacturers recommend lining old chimneys. It allows the chimney to tun hotter improving draw and reducing condensation in the chimney and reduces the possibility of CO leaking through cracks in the mortar.
