oil boilers - fitting a pipe stat

Hi there
During the recent spell of cold weather our boiler has been going on and off a lot of the time due to the cold temperatures. We have a frost stat that is fitted as the boiler is in the garage and this i believe has been controlling the boiler.
If i was to fit a pipe stat on the return to the burner, im assuming this would reduce the amount of cycling on and off. I understand that it would still happen, just not as often.
My question is how do i wire a pipe stat in? We have a y-plan system and the boiler is a thermecon option 40/60
thanks for any help
cheers

I'm not an expert but it sounds to me as if the frost stat is doing what it is supposed to do! Otherwise your boiler will freeze up.

Fit the pipe stat on the heating return.
To wire it you just interrupt the the feed to the frost stat, so it's in line.

Take the feed wire to the frost stat, and stick it in the com (pipe stat) then from the pipe stat to the frost stat.
Simply put the pipe stat is just an inline switch to the frost stat.
