Ideal Isar HE30 Combi Boiler Break down
Mar 11

Hi, ive recently had error codes displaying on my Isar HE30 Boiler H9/L9 which is blockage in the unit or Replacement of thermistor but the strange thing is that the boiler will work for a short amount of time after it has displayed its error message which is displayed as 3 lines you can get hot water and central heating but after maybe 10-20 minutes it will shut down and flash L/9 what im guessing is the PCB Need's replacing? Before i spend nearly £200 on a new one id like to know if it could be something else thats causing this, if anyone has any idea's they will all be greatly appreciated.

I would guess the PCB is about the last thing you would change
The boiler is overheating.
Poor circulation, check the pump, and HX.

Thank You for replying.
Thing is when its first turned on after its cooled down for hours it still shows the flashing 3 lines so its not over heating could it be thermistor problem or a sensor? Just before christmas the temperature here dropped below -16 and all our pipes froze and burst 11 pipes in total including radiator pipes im guessing the extreme low temperature might have damages the sensors possibly. Its not the pump its working correctly. Thnx

What happens if you power the boiler down electrically and turn it back on after a few minutes.

If the pump is running O.K not speeding up and slowing down or sticking afer a few mins, and the thermistor/flow sensor fine then it sounds like the board but check the others first bud.

I skipped round checking for blockages as I assume when it does work it circulates O.K ?

Ill Ohm check the Thermistors/sensors when i get the chance, last thing i want to do is buy a new PCB for it, and yes when it does work the CH Works fine so ive ruled out the pump. But when it does display L...9.. or 3 lines it fires up can feel it getting hot.
Cheers!

The older boilers with the black plastic pcb cover were common fault the later orange ones slightly less so.

That sounds like it is sensing the flow but dropping out check the sensor bud and just watch that pump as well if it is speeding up and slowing down or shows any sighns of being poorly at all get it swapped.

Checked it, pumps working fine, problem is when you first turn it on, like now the Fan speeds up and the display flashed 0 and 3 vertical lines, after say 30 mins it switches to ''d'' for hot water demand even tho no taps are on if i turn a hot water tap on it will work if its left it will switch to L/9 status. Also displays L/9 if you run the hot water for a few seconds then shut the tap off.
