Jersiais GDPR opt-out	Combi high pressure threatening old pipes Apr 5^th, 2011, 9:33am I want to change my old gas boiler for a combi unit. My radiator system is 42 years old and SOME salesmen have told me that the copper pipes set in the cement ground floor would not stand the higher pressure and will need to be changed. Is this true? Is there any way around it - We could not put up with the upheval necessary?

If you want mains pressure hot water you could get that with a mains pressure stored hot water system that retains the heating system as vented.

Perhaps I missunderstand your question...

Which pipes are you worried about? Are you worried about both the heating pipes AND the DHW water pipes or just the heating?

If it's just the heating system that you are worried about there are ways to have mains pressure DHW and a vented (eg low pressure) heating system.

Have a look at Intergas boilers. I have one in doors, brilliant boilers.
