Apr 6th, 2011, 3:13pm

doing a pir report in domestic house that was built in 1980's, the cooker switch is on the wall behind the electric hob, is that a fail ? I know modern standards are 300mm away from hob ,the owners have done the place up - fitted new kitchen ect,im not sure where i stand with this,im going to give it code 2 on certificate, is this just a code 2 or code 1 ?

I had a discussion about this very thing with one of the technical guys at SELECT a couple of years ago when doing a PIR.

I thought it was a code 2 but he said it was only a code 4.

much to the relief of the home owner who thought he was gonna have to wreck his new kitchen to get a satisfactory report for his building warrant.

Yep, code 4, unless risk of fire from trailing flex?

thats great thanks for the info

my pir sheets only have 4 codes
something like
1)urgent attention
2)needs improvement
3)needs further investigation
4)does not comply with bs7671

i was sure there were 5 on the newer sheets tho
