light switch help me please?????
Sep 11th, 2011, 12:43pm

hi all im hoping someone maybe able to help me? in my dining room i have 3 light switches, 2 singles and a double (one half of this operates stairs light). I bought some new switches to replace the old ones, however one of the single switches does not look the same as the one i want to replace. The existing one has i think 3 or 4 attachments for the wires where as the new one only has 2 connections. Where would i buy like for like switch and what do i ask for? i presume it must operate like a 3 way switch?

regards craig

i appologise if i am a bit vague but will try and give more info if it is needed? I am looking for brass effect georgian style.

Without further info it is difficult to advise but my guess is that you have what is called an Intermediate Switch with 4 connections like this one.

OR - It may just be a 2 way switch with 3 connections like this one -

A photo or two of the back of the existing switch and a description of what is does - I.E. what it operates would be handy.

If it IS an intermediate switch, then you should be able to get one from where you got the other new switches.

Over to you
