Emergency power supply circuits - Domestic

Looking for wiring diagrams of emergency power supplies using 12 volt battery and 240 volt invertor. This required to provide low current power source to control items like gas boiler operating systems and low level lighting in the event of power cuts.
Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

All advice is at least two years out of date.
