internal PIR
Oct 29th, 2011, 5:06pm

our landing light is switched by a ceiling mounted PIR, to stop the kids leaving it on all day.

the sensor doesn't detect people until they are quite close to it, so i thought the answer would be to move it to one end of the landing and add another at the other end.

the sensor has 3 connections - live and neutral in, and a switched live out.    can you add an extra sensor by simply connecting them in parallel?

Yep, thats exactly what to do.

You could change the PIR for a microwave occupancy detector.  They are far more sensitive, less prone to false triggers, and balloon a larger area.
