Hi
Currently in rented accomodation witha Remeha Avanta Plus combi and a Siemens RDJ10RF wireless thermostat.
Background
Unfortunatly previously the thermostat reciever must have failed at some point and the unit has been removed and bypassed using choc block (basically when the boiler has power it is always set for'call for heat'
There has been a bit of a saga with the landlord getting a gas engineer to come and repair (the last engineer didn't know how to fit the thermostat lol)
I've attaced a diagram of the bodge of existing wiring. The original has made things a bit messy/complicated by taking the feed from the FCU and looping it into the Siemens Reciever (this is only really designed for 1 set of wires not 3) - the issue is further compounded by the the lack of space (the boiler is in the bottom of a cupboard) I have given up trying to get the wires to fit.
Current

Correct

The landlord has agreed that I can replace the thermostat (I've actually fitted a couple of this model before) and then a gas engineer will come and do the annual gas safety inspection.
My thoughts were to re run the cables:
+ Direct feed from FCU to boiler
+ 5 core between the thermostat receiver and the programmer terminals on the boiler
My question is what the rules are concerning removing the boiler cover to attend to the wiring inside - boilers I have worked on in an electrical capacity in the past have had a seperate cover for accessing the electrical connections.
