Will U.s tools work on U.K 110v site supply? (Read 4141 times)

Wayne B GDPR opt-out	Will U.s tools work on U.K 110v site supply? May 23^rd, 2012, 6:02pm Hi folks, Does anyone know if a tool bought from the U.S will work on our 110v site supply please? And if not, why not? Just want to know for sure

Yes and no....

Yes, the 110 volt site transformers will power their 120 volt kit just fine, but, their tools are designed for use on a 60Hz frequency. Our frequency is 50Hz. This can cause motors to run a smidge slower, and overheat.

You can get inverters which allow you to control with absolute precision, the output voltage an frequency.

( other retailers are available) LOL

Reply #3 - May 23^rd, 2012, 8:56pm The adaptors will change voltage but not frequency. Most battery chargers say on them 100-250v 50/60Hz. You could chop their plug off an put a UK one on. Check the specs.
