Had a call from a company that supplies self assembly Media beds. Said they had seen my website and asked if I would be interested in assembling one in Whitehaven. He said they paid £30.00 for the job as it should take no longer than two hours to assemble.
I asked if he had seen what my minimum charge was for a small job. I told him it was £45.00. He hung up on me.
Would you do a twelve mile round trip, unpack the boxes assemble the bed and test the electrics for £30.00.

We get these calls quite often too - replacing parts in a bathroom mirror light was the most recent. Quite often the job is the other side of Devon - They must think it is a tiny county!
The worst has to be the subbed Sky Installs - It's no wonder they are slap dash these days!

We are on some maintenance lists with pre-agreed distances and rates, many of the rates as high as £300 for the first hour, with £75 there after (bank holidays anyway!).
With these you don't mind travelling a little!
