Bath fixing
Mar 10th, 2013, 6:01pm

Hey guys i have turned to this forum to ask how or what is the best method of fixing the (fixed position) bath side brackets to the stud partition wall to provide effective support for the bath?

Standard 1700 x 500 bath

Would appreciate any of your answers!

Hi,

Best plan normally would be to fix a 2 x 1 piece of wood to the studs the length of the bath.

An alternative would be to ply the wall and give it strength as well.

I did as Scruff suggests, ditching the clips the bath comes with.

My baths acrylic lip went down past the wood on the baths rim, so my batten was fitted to the wall, spaced off slightly with a thinner batten to allow for the lip.

Best to use treated timber if you can.

The more rigid you can make the bath fixing the longer the bath sealer will last.
