Boiler service.....much of a muchness?

Unreliable local Warmflow engineer means I need to find someone else to service the bog-standard external boiler (non-combi).
Would I be correct in assuming that as only the burner that really is the crux of the matter, therefore pretty standard therefore any decent oil-experienced engineer could service it?

Many people have their boiler regularly and think that's all they need do. It's also worth ensuring that there is corrosion inhibitor in the system.

What's the story behind the boiler then LM, he reckons it was in a terrible condition, especially for a 2 year old boiler.
