32amp feeding 32amp???
Mar 24th, 2014, 7:45am

I have a 32amp mcb at the CU, running a feed to 2 sheds what are 32amp rated. I would like to be able to use them to there maximum capacity.

Are they both 32amp or are they half due to the 32amp mcb in the CU?

The shed are 30m away and feed with 10mm armoured cable.

Thanks

10mm PVC/SWA can be rated higher than 32amp.  You could fit a 40 or 50 amp MCB on this cable, subject to cable installation methods.  How is the cable installed?  Loft voids, thermal insulation, clipped direct, trunking, grouped with others etc?

The cable is connected to the main CU via a 32amp mcb. It then goes to the sheds external of the building on a wire about  30 meters from CU Tto sheds. It goes in to a switch box then the cable is spilt to feed both sheds. They are connected with a 3 pin caravan type thing. Rated at 32 amp.
Is the 32amp in the CU halved to feed both 16amp or do both get 32amp?

Well they obviously can't both use 32amp at once!  They could individually.

If there are 32amp sockets, you would not be able to upgrade the rating of the main MCB.  You could upgrade the main MCB and replace the splitting joint box with a second consumer unit, having a 32amp MCB for each shed.

What's going in the sheds?

Do I have enlough amps?

 2500=10.4amp
740=3.1a
2x240w= 2a
2x5ftx2 =200w=0.8a
around 16.3333a

240w at 230v = approximately 1amp
