Waterproof Junction box
Apr 25th, 2014, 12:36am

Does anyone make a small junction box for cables with moulded on connectors that won't fit through a grommet?

For example MK Masterseal outdoor sockets have a nice soft split grommet system that allows you to insert a moulded plug and close the lid. No need to cut off the plug, pass the wire through a grommet and reconnect the plug!

I'm looking for something to use with outdoor IP CCTV cameras that  come with an RJ45 socket moulded on to a short cable. Some also come with a DC socket on a flying lead that cannot easily be detached when using POE.

I don't want to use potting compound or similar.

when I've put in my cctv at my home, workshop/s(over the various moves) and clients offices etc, I use the required IP65/8 adaptable boxes, and 25mm "SPLIT" male glands with split grommets, which I get from my electrical retailers....

that way I have total control over where I drill the holes in the boxes, feed the cable and the connectors in the holes, place grommets round cable, snap shut the gland over the grommet, insert in the box and apply the nut...

even works with a shotgun lead for the 12v dc.... attached to the cctv RG59 cable...

totally pure and simple... and fully water tight!!!

had no come backs yet,

Thanks scotspark.

Have just found this which might do the job.

http://www.televes.co.uk/en/catalogo/producto/black-plastic-case-big

It's on ebay  for £7.37 with free postage. Seems to have a seal for cables along most of the length of the bottom edge. Have ordered one to see if it's any good for what I want.
