Hi,

Got loads of water at one point in my garden.  Its nothing to do with rainfall as there hasnt been any in weeks and my neighbour thinks its a burst pipe.  Do I need a plumber out?  I called scottish water and they said as its in the property surroundings I would but surely if its there Pipes they must repair them?

Any help would be much appreciated.

You should be able to get a map of their pipes. They probably have a department that looks after "assets". The problem I had was getting past the call center to talk to someone with a brain. Try calling a local builder or solicitor as they will probably have the address and maybe a direct phone number for the right departmant. Once you get that number give them a call and ask if it is possible to get a map of assets. Before you call work out the six figure OS map reference so they can identify the site easily. Sometimes they want to charge for the map. They charge solicitors about £35 I think and it can take weeks..but try telling them there is a leak and you need it urgently....ask if there is any chance you can pop down to their recieption to pick it up a copy in an hour or two. Chances are they will just hit the print button and not bother invoicing etc Worked for me.

Further to Scruff, if you are on a water meter, make sure you have no water running in the house and watch the dial to see if it is moving

coz they are useless and always seem to leak!!!!

Well i live in Devon and my water rates are £632 -  south west watre are the most expensive in the country
