First bandsaw
Oct 31st, 2004, 11:08pm

Looking to buy my first bandsaw and need a bit of advice,it is a toss up between either a clarke one ,a Ryobi from ITS,A sip model all around the &130 mark or should i spend the extra and buy the scheppach model from Rutlands for &160.
It won`t get a lot of use but i don`t want to buy something and then 3 months time be saying i could be doing with a better one.
Anyone got any experience of any of these budget  machines?

I'd forget the Clarkes one from MM.
It depends on how you intend using it.
The first thing to do with any bandsaw is to throw the blade away and buy a decent one.
Most put a cheap blade on to keep the cost down.
A decent blade will double the worth of a fairly cheap model.
SIP have been around for years making industrial compreesors and generators.
It's only in the last few years they have jumped on the DIY bandwagon and introduced tools made (or imported) for the DIY market.
(To a price)
Sheppach machines are highly regarded by many woodworkers, so much so you'd think there were none better.
