I tried all the various 'chat' programs when I got on the 'net and a friend was raving about ICQ.
I made a couple of good friends on there.
I then tried MSN, AIM etc but missed actually talking with someone.
We tried using a mic to speak on Yahoo but the sound made the program lock up after a few minutes.
Then I was told about Paltalk which was fairly new and used sound for voice 'calls'.
For my 1p a minute phone charge I was able to speak anywhere in the world.
Normal phone charges for that are exhortionate.
I've been on Paltalk ever since although have tried a number of other programs that use audio to chat but since Paltalk introduced voice chat rooms where hundreds can join in if they want to, it has reigned supreme among internet chat programs.
I seldom ever turn the others on any more.

isn't the whole point of internet chat that you can be in several conversations at once
i would imagine voice would make that rather difficult

The idea with Paltalk is that you can all type in a room while one at a time use the mic or play music.
The new version allows you to be in 3 rooms at once.
(confusing) lol
Plus you can have live PMs with as many as you like.
It costs nothing apart from your internet connection charge from your ISP.
Anyone want to buy some CBs?
I've got at least 10 in a cupboard plus all the accesories.
