Bath mixer tap
Mar 24th, 2005, 10:44pm

Have been asked to fit a Bristan Prism bath mixer tap. Cold water is mains fed but hot is tank fed. Instructions with the tap say to fit a non-return valve into hot supply. Is this likely to restrict the flow by a significant amount?

Possibly but its a water reg requirement

Wouldn't have thought the briston would work without fitting a pressure reducing valve and matching the pressures

Scruff....do you think that reducing the mains pressure may be the best option?

Confused here..

I thought non return valves were only fitted into the mains fed COLD supply to prevent stale hot water going back into the mains somehow.

Why do the regs need a valve on the hot if it's tank fed?

Fitting a pressure reducing valve would be the best way to go, but, you would still need the single check valves.

Cwatters,

check valve is required to stop the higher pressure (cold main) reversing up the hot, through the cylinder and flooding the loft.

o.k. PRV's and single check valves. Any ideas as to best source for these items?
