A brief resume` on my background.

Started a C&G/NVQ course nearly 2 years ago. Turns out the College after advertising it was C&G accredited..... it wasn't. The have recently been accredited.

Now we learn, towards the end of the 2 years that due to the changes C&G have thrust upon the educational establishment, that our course will now carry through to the next educational year, costing students unessecary time, strain and money.

This of course has ****** up several peoples lives, more so the full time / part time (as against evening class) students. This particular college, has blatently, without a doubt been managed unspeakably badly by higher managment in any event, but before I start spending money I havn't got, taking legal advice/slating the bastards in the press, I need to know if the story we are being told is any foundation.

Basically, we are being told that C&G changed their course last educational year and that all college's, not just this one, have had to change alot of their structures and that some major, recognised colleges, at least in the South East, have not done so and by implication, presumably, wont be able to pass anyone on the new C&G plumbing course this year.

Is there anyone out there undertaking C&G in a college and have they heard anything about this alleged situation?

I would rather not say which College I am at on this post in case the information I have is incorrect. Suffice to say, if this situation was indeed national, surely there would have been all sorts publically kicking off by now ? I have my personal opinions about the situation but am keen to hear from anyone else on C&G.

Thats interesting Super. We are 1 1/2 years through the plumbing and allegedly C&G changed the course during the first year but we were all 'encouraged' to re-sign for this year to find out now that we will need to carry through for a 3rd year, presumably at extra cost again.

What pass level were you hoping for?? 80% is not a bad target, better than the 30% pass mark to get a degree!

Pity you didnt get the lead one, its becoming an increasingly specialised part of plumbing as new courses(up here anyhow) don't do lead as part of the main curriculum, my class was the last to have lead integrated in it and I am pleased it did, seems to make you infinately more employable. As for not going up on a roof for love nor money,
1. get scaffolding in place,
2. a lot can be done on the bench, especially things like step flashing prefabrication and decorative stuff, along with most burning tasks.
and solid rolls etc are usually on nice flat roofs too!

NP, just get someone else to go up the ladder! I agree theres something therapeutic about dressing a flat sheet of lead into a box or something a bit special, best lead dressing i ever saw was a 4" branch totally dressed from sheet lead, spectacular, I couldnt do it...
