Shower Connector

Hi - Just wondering how this is connected as the length of thread seems to be too short once thickness of plaster and tiles is taken into account?  Any ideas folks as my plasterer/tiler has not come across one like it before ???

I'll bet it was one of those shower hose connector outlets, all chrome with a half inch male iron thread.

an extension piece. Dont know where you get em, but the guy who fitted our radiator used one as the new rad was slightly smaller than the one removed. Male on one end, female on the other, like an extended chrome tap adapter measures about 2" or so.
Never came across the problem myself so can't really say whats available to sort it.

I would bin it and get a decent one.  This part was designed by a twerp in a suit, sat at a drawing board with absolutely NO idea how these things go together.
