Workshop alarm
Oct 6th, 2005, 10:35am

I need to fit an alarm to a garage/workshop, I'm looking to spend about £80. Can anyone recommend anything bearing in mind it will get covered in dust.

Thanks

Keith

if it will get covered in dust then a inside PIR will get covered.....
door + window contacts and maybe a pressure pad by the door/window?

Being a professional alarm installation engineer I would say you won't get anything for £80 worth fitting. Wink

However, I tend to get moaned at for going off on one so;

What is access to this workshop like? As mentioned a PIR may well be useless after a fortnight as it will most probably be covered in dust and crap. Door and window contacts and glass break detector sound like a possible reasonable option.

Thanks for the replies,

what about a simple control panel (is there one?) which would have the contacts as ss sugests and a sounder over the up and over door.

The neighbours are retired so there is usually someone about to hear it if it goes off, although I'm thinking some physical deterent may be more cost effective Undecided

Is this actually a garage with just an up and over door, i.e. no windows? If it is I could fit a panel and keypad, magnetic contacts to the up and over door and external bell for £80.
