How much for a 6' garden wall

I have been quoted £1500 for a garden wall 6' high and 9.5m long.  It is one brick thick with some piers.  He reckons about a grand for materials and £500 for labour.  Does this sound about right?  West Midlands

Is this just for the brickwork or does a foundation have to be dug and concreted?

If there is already a foundation there, does it come right up to ground level or will some brickwork be needed below ground?

What are the bricks?  Do you have a name/manufacturer/type?

Is mortar included in this price?

Is debris removal included in this price?

How near to the wall can you get materials delivered (bricks/sand/cement)

he says its reclaimed bricks, doesnt include the foundations but mortar is included and so is debris removal.  materials will have to go all the way round the house.
I imagine the foundations would be a strip of concrete about 9.5m long - whats the going rate for them?

Well my price, if the job was near me in Bucks, would be:

Foundations machine dug to 1000mm deep x 450 wide trenchfill 25N concrete including muck away £1,200 + vat

All walling as above £2,200 + vat

So the whole job would be £3,400 + vat

So your guy sounds cheap, is he any good?  Wink

Thanks Jerry.  I have seen some of his work and it seems ok - still up anyway.  He told me he wasnt a fully qualified brickie but has been doing paid jobs for about a year.  He gave me references which I havent checked out yet, think i will though - I like a good deal but dont want a cowboy job Smiley

If he's only been doing it for a year or so ask what he does to prevent the mortar freezing before it sets. He might not have had to deal with that before.
