e mail printing.
Dec 24th, 2005, 5:20pm

When i try to print an e mail the following appears:-

an error has occured in the script on this page

        line    1344

        char   1

        error  unspecified error

        code  0

        url     res://c:\windows\system 32\shdoclc.dll/preview.dlg

do you want to continue running scripts on this page

                                   yes       no

Pressing yes or no makes no difference and as far as i'm aware (unless the bloody kids have done something  ) no programs have been removed or any new software installed!

Any ideas chaps?

If you don't have office and don't fancy paying for it (don't blame you) use Open Office. Completely 100% free and pretty darn top notch really. Wink

As for the non printing, sounds like an issue with the email client, not sure why. What is it? Tried re-installing it after exporting your pst files?

Google suggests this might be due to some spyware called Surfairy. See this thread...

http://forums.computeractive.co.uk/thread.jsp?forum=6&thread=74763&message=50573...

Microsoft say..
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811165
..but ony mention IE not OE.

If that doesn't work there seems to be another suggested solution here but it requires you to mess with the registry...

Are you using web-based email Trowelhead?  If so, it would be IE that would need looking at...

The thing with this problem is it just 'appeared'.One day could print next day couldn't! As i say i have no probs printing anything else.
Might look into the teacher/student word, although i begrudge paying for it and not realising when i bought the pc (just 1 year ago) that word was only on a 60 day trial and then 'deactivates' and becomes useless!
At the moment i have the Easy Office from QVC,not bad at all, could this be the problem?Do you need a certain word processing software to print in OE?

Did you miss, or dismiss, the OpenOffice link? As I mentioned, free. Smiley

You don't need any other software to print from OE.

Are you going to answer any of the questions above or are you not really bothering to read any responses?

Nope, websites down for maintenance. Smiley

On the OOo front, it won't just make OE 'work', it's an alternative to MS Office so you can use it for the copy and paste route.

Can't say as I've used OE for a while tbh and haven't come across your particular problem. I've used Mozilla Thunderbird for years.

And, chilling out, not my style! Grin

Not too clever with pc's Lectrician, but any e-mail,whether sent say by you or sent by a 'web company' (confirmation e-mails etc) will not print! Roll Eyes

when you collect your mail, do you logon to a website belonging to your service provider(or hotmail), or do you use microsoft outlook (or similar).

I  use outlook express 6.
On the surfairy front i've done the scans and looked up the options in the registry etc as described in various help sections on spyware sites and it appears not to be the problem.Might  remove and reinstall the printer software and see if that helps,or is that a waste of time? Roll Eyes

Worth a try. I'd remove and reinstall OE first though, if other programs are printing fine then the printer software is probably OK. (NB, removing and reinstalling OE may remove all your mail and mail settings, google for guides on how to export all your mail folders and account settings before removeing the program).

For what it's worth...

Google suggests lots of people have had the same problem.. See...

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22an+error+has+occured+in+the+script+on+th...

The problem is that the solutions proposed work for some people and not others.

If this is an XP box you could also try a system restore back to an earlier date.
