Dust Collectors
Jul 10th, 2006, 2:27am

I guess this is the best place to post as all chippies are messy buggers Smiley.
I'm thinking of getting a small Dust Collector for my workshop, any recommendations ? Models to avoid ? I did like the look of the kit at this site but think it's a little bit of overkill for a drunken DIY'er: http://billpentz.com/woodworking/cyclone/DustCollectionBasics.cfm

Yeah, all tradesmen are messy Smiley
I've got a router (the most messy thing ever I guess), 10" sliding compound mitre saw (not quite as messy but just lots more of it), 10"table saw, pillar drill, grinder, other bits & bobs.
Just ordered a band saw. What other toys do I need ?

That is a good machine at a good price but be aware it is a chip collector rather than a dust collector; unless it is fitted with the optional pleated filter.

Thanks woody, I was aware of that; I'll probably wheel it outside for most of the time it's in use.
I may even have a go at making a cyclone for the dust, but not sure if the blower will be powerful enough. Could be a fun project anyhow Smiley
