garden play equipment
Aug 8th, 2006, 7:43pm

Hi chaps
just came by some play equipment, chute trapeze climbing frame etc, myquestion is previous owner has kept it under a tree so now resembles a green mouldy mess!!! Shocked

what is best way to remove mould, powerwasher?? are there any products that will remove the mould etc, I intend on cleaning it up staining timber down a few shades then maybe topping it with the dreaded v@rn*sh, or any other recommended products.

regards

steve

Household bleach will get rid of it. A pressure washer will just drive it further in (to reappear later on) unless you kill it first.

Firstly, i bet the kids won't get a lookin on it!!! you will keep it all to your self!!
secondly, do not v@rn*sh it when clean, especially NOT on kiddies equipment, as it flexi's it will just crack and craze, oiling it will be much better......

as for cleaning it, you could try a wire brush, BRASS, not steel!!!, and is it MOULD or just Green algee!!!

if just green algee then you could try using  a bleach/water mix, and a hard bristle scrubbing brush!!!!!

is it a round or square section timber!!! Huh

only if it is a hard wood and the bleach is mega strong, then it may, just may lighten it!!!

Probably, but as most play stuff is made from light coloured timber like pine and birch does it matter than much? In any case I though you were going to restain it.......
